Frequently Asked Questions

How Can We Help?

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Physical Therapy in Iowa is direct access, meaning you can come directly to us without seeing a doctor. There are a few insurances which are exceptions to this rule. If you are wondering about your specific insurance, give us a call and we will pre-verify your insurance and determine if you need a referral.

What types of health insurance do you accept?

We accept all major medical plans such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Medicare, Medicaid (Amerigroup, Iowa Total Care), Tricare, Coventry, Cigna, Midlands Choice, and Aetna. There are some insurances with which we are not in-network. This may result in a higher out of pocket cost to the patient. Please call us and we can check on your specific plan for you.

What do I need for my first appointment?

  • Referral from physician (if needed)

  • Insurance information (we will make a copy of your card)

  • Patient forms (You can fill these out and bring them to your first visit. If you choose to fill these out in-office, please arrive 15 minutes early.)

  • Wear comfortable, stretchy or loose-fitting clothes allowing easy access to your injury area.

How long does an appointment last?

Initial examinations typically last 60 minutes and follow-up sessions typically last 30-45 minutes. Time may run longer if treating multiple problem areas. Our therapists will work with you to meet any time restrictions.
